ProZyme® Products a "Natural Fit" for PRN Pharmacal

PRN Pharmacal is pleased to announce the addition of REACT™ Ethylene Glycol Test Kit to their product line. REACT was launched at the CVC Central Show in Kansas City and will be available nationwide through ethical veterinary distributors.

The PRN EGT™ Kit has been the standard in the market for over twenty years. New REACT works up to 5 times faster and is effective for the diagnosis of ethylene glycol poisoning in cats, something no other test kit on the market currently offers.

Ethylene glycol, the main ingredient in antifreeze, is toxic to all creatures including humans. Dogs and cats are drawn to ethylene glycol because of its sweet taste and will lick the container or drink puddles that form on the ground. According to an article by Dr. Ron Hines, DVM, this accounts for over 10,000 accidental poisonings annually.

REACT is a diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of ethylene glycol in the blood of dogs and cats. This test is simple, reliable and fast with results in under six minutes. Ethylene glycol contaminated blood in an enzyme catalyzed reaction causes the solution to change color - from clear to purple in just seconds. Once confirmation is obtained, treatment can be administered. Subsequent tests will track ethylene glycol blood levels during treatment.

“REACT is much faster than our current test,” says Gary Cushing, Vice President of Sales for PRN Pharmacal. “The speed of diagnosis combined with the sensitivity for cats is what makes this test a must for any clinic.”

REACT is manufactured by PRN and packaged individually. “The response to the EGT Kits has been overwhelming,” Cushing says, “making REACT in-house will enable us keep up with demand.”

PRN Pharmacal, best known for Proin® ppa for canine urinary incontinence, has over 30 years of service to the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. The PRN product line is owned by Pegasus Laboratories, Inc. and has a production facility in Pensacola, Florida. Pegasus is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PBI/Gordon Corporation, Kansas City, Missouri.
