October 5, 2026 – Pensacola, FL – PRN® Pharmacal is proud to recognize Rebecca Covington, Instructor and CVT, of East Valley Institute of Technology and Cross Winds Animal Clinic in Arizona, as a recipient of the 2026 PRN Pharmacal Veterinary Technician Award, announced at ACVS tradeshow in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The award honors credentialed veterinary technicians who exemplify the qualities of being Professional, Resourceful, and Necessary through their dedication to patient care, clinical excellence, and service to the veterinary profession.
With more than 27 years of experience, Rebecca has built a career focused on both caring for patients and preparing the next generation of veterinary professionals. As a practicing Certified Veterinary Technician and veterinary assisting instructor, she combines real-world clinical expertise with a passion for education, helping students develop the technical skills, professionalism, and compassion needed to succeed in veterinary medicine.
Rebecca’s nominators consistently highlighted her commitment to supporting others and advancing the profession. According to Ellyn Jirsa, CVT, who works alongside Rebecca, “She does much more than teach the technical skills needed to work in veterinary medicine; she teaches her students what it truly means to be part of the veterinary profession. She encourages compassion, teamwork, professionalism, and a genuine love for the animals and people they will serve.”
In both the clinic and classroom, Rebecca is known for her calm leadership, collaborative approach, and willingness to mentor those around her. Her ability to transform real clinical experiences into meaningful learning opportunities has made a lasting impact on students, colleagues, patients, and clients alike.
Amber Tomory, CVT, a fellow instructor, described Rebecca as someone who is “passionate” about training the next generation of veterinary professionals to be compassionate, skilled, and professional” and noted that she continues working in clinical practice to keep her skills current and make an impact on patients.
